What Santa REALLY wants to drink with those cookies...

Being a Mama means I also moonlight as Mrs. Claus on Christmas Eve. To that end, I suggest all Dads and boyfriends heed my Christmas call and leave a lovely alcoholic libation in lieu of milk with the cookies this Xmas. Santa must know I've dealt with enough MILK this year, thank you very much!

Here are a few great winter warmers to snuggle by the fire or under the mistletoe with.

Brandied Eggnog--Seriously, the easiest way to my heart this time of year. A cup of sweet and spiced fat made even sweeter by the addition of Brandy. Serve warm or chilled, sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon and, poof! Happy Mrs. Claus!

Banyuls--A sweet, but not syrupy Southern French version of Port. The trip down the soot-lined chimney will be an easy task with chocolate chip cookies and this espresso, black plum and cherry sipper waiting at the bottom. (Banyuls also makes quick friends with ANY dark chocolate lying around!)
M. Chapoutier Banyuls $25

Dry Amontillado Sherry--I happen to be a huge fan of shortbread salted caramels and, this is my new favorite pairing! Nutty raisins and figs, smooth, dry, just enough sweetness and more refined than port, sherries really should be on everyone's dessert radar. Lustau Dry Amontillado Sherry $7/16  375ml/750/ml

Late Harvest Semillon--Liquid banana cream pie. Caution! One sip and you'll be hooked! Maybe a hunk of blue veined cheese with this one in addition to cookies, hint, hint!
Mark Ryan Fancy Pants $20

And another blog entry complete. May my husband read this entry and take the following quote to heart. After all, I'm a hard-working mama who wants her Christmas cup to runneth over with something as luxurious as cashmere...

Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone."
~ Charles Schulz (1922-2000), American cartoonist 'Peanuts'.
